Chey Ueith,
aged 36, deminer and minefield surveyor.
Ueith joined MAG in 1996. At the age of fifteen he was a student
in Battambang when he was ordered to join the military. At the time
the country was still fighting a civil war against the Khmer Rouge.

Hun Mao
41 year old Supervisor, MAT 1.
"I was unskilled before I came
to work for MAG in 1994. Since then I have been trained as a deminer,
EOD technician, minefield surveyor and a community liaison officer.
Now I have just completed a management training course" said
Mao. He went on to say that before this his only assets were his
hands and strength.

Leath Chumbory
Born in Phnom Penh in 1962, Leath
Chumbory, a widow, started with MAG as a deminer in 1996 at the
age of 34.
In 1975 during the year the Khmer Rouge
took Phnom Penh, Chumbory and her family were forced to walk to
Battambang nearly 400 kilometres. She was never to see many of her
family again. Her father and two of her three brothers were murdered
in the notorious Toul Sleng prison on the outskirts of Phnom Penh.
Three of her five sisters disappeared on the road to Battambang.
her brother-in-law who was a General in the Long Nol government
was slowly cooked in an oven.
